So as a usual working mom, I would normally just buy the ready made ones at the closest super market..
But the search did not end there...
About two months ago I came across a recipe that I found extremely easy to make and play around with too.
I have been making it almost every week since then and my family absolute love it!
So without further a due, here is the recipe:
What you will need:
1 Liter Milk
250g Butter or Margarine
3/4 Cornflower, mixed with a little bit of cold water
3/4 Cup of Sugar
2 Eggs
Pinch of Salt
1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Essence
250g Butter or Margarine
3/4 Cornflower, mixed with a little bit of cold water
3/4 Cup of Sugar
2 Eggs
Pinch of Salt
1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Essence
Method:
- Bring the milk and butter or margarine to boil in a pot.
- Add rest of ingredients to the pot and cook on low temperature for 10 min, stirring constantly.
- Throw thickened mixture into a dish, with or without crust.
- Sprinkle cinnamon over the mixture.
- Store in refrigerator.
- The milk tart should be ready to serve when the dish feels cold at the bottom.
- Normally after an hour
- Should you prefer a crust, you can make the traditional one (which I will post at a later stage), or pack the bottom of the dish with tennis biscuits or crushed marie biscuits (mixed with a little bit of melted butter)
